The Florida Legislature has amended the Florida Condominium Act to require owners to provide proof of hazard insurance policy every year. Beginning January 1, 2009 if an owner fails to provide proof of hazard insurance on their unit the Condo Association may buy the insurance on their behalf and bill the cost to the condo owner. The new law also states that each policy must contain a “loss assessment” limit of at least $2,000.00. House Bill 601

No application for new coverage or endorsement for increased coverage may be bound, written or issued, or monies received, regardless of effective date, when a Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch or Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for any part of the State of Florida.
PIP is again required for drivers in Florida effective January 1, 2008.

If the PIP requirement is allowed to expire Oct 1 2007 by the legislature, will not mean car insurance in Florida stopped being mandatory. Safe drivers will not need to show proof of insurance when paying registration.
